Mark Twain Behavioral Health is seeking a full-time in-office ADVANCED PRACTICE NURSE for our HANNIBAL FORREST DRIVE location. Role Responsibilities
The Advanced Practice Nurse evaluates, diagnoses, and treats clients with mental, emotional and behavioral disorders and is primary in the delivery of medical services at MTBH.
- Diagnose psychiatric disorders and mental health conditions
- Distinguish between physiologically and psychologically based disorders and diagnose appropriately
- Organizes data concerning client's family, medical history, and onset of symptoms obtained from client, relatives, other community resources who have interacted with the client, nursing, and clinical staff
- Assess patients' mental and physical status based on the presenting symptoms and complaints
- Treats and directs treatment of client, utilizing a variety of psychotherapeutic methods and medications
- Monitor patients' medication usage and results
- Evaluate patients' behavior to formulate diagnoses or assess treatments
- Educate patients and family members about mental health and medical conditions, preventive health measures, medications, or treatment plans
- Document patients' medical and psychological histories, physical assessment results, diagnoses, treatment plans, prescriptions, or outcomes
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, including psychiatrists, psychologists, or nursing staff, to develop, implement, or evaluate treatment plans
- Write prescriptions for psychotropic medications as allowed by state regulations and collaborative practice agreements
- Participate in activities aimed at professional growth and development including conferences or continuing education activities
- Monitor the use and status of medical and pharmaceutical supplies
- Develop and implement treatment plans
- Consult with psychiatrists or other professionals when unusual or complex cases are encountered
- Order and Interpret diagnostic or laboratory tests such as electrocardiograms (EKGs) and renal functioning tests
- Participate in treatment team conferences regarding diagnosis or treatment of difficult cases
- Refer patients requiring more specialized or complex treatment to psychiatrists, primary care physicians, or other medical specialists
- Provide routine physical health examinations and/or screenings to determine general health and detect or monitor problems such as heart disease and diabetes
- Participate in quality assurance reviews
Adherence to the MTBH Ethical Code of Conduct and all policies is required.
Qualifications
- Missouri license as an Advanced Practice Nurse
- Minimum of two years experience in psychiatry and a minimum of two years experience working with people in crisis
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and First Aid Certification
- Prefer provision of services for both adult and children clients
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
