Mark Twain Behavioral Health is seeking a full-time LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSE for our HANNIBAL MISSOURI - COMMUNICATIONS DRIVE location.  This full-time salaried position offers competitive pay and full benefits.  Consider joining our MTBH Team!  We offer a supportive culture of appreciation and a strong emphasis on the health and well-being of our team.

This position provides direct consumer care in collaboration with the Registered Nurse and Clinical Team, including basic to complex care, medication administration, patient education, and participation in person-centered planning.  This position is supervised by Withdrawal Management Program Director and under supervision and direction of the Medical Director and medical providers. This position in a 24/7 behavioral health setting requires 12-hour shifts (8am-8pm) on a rotating schedule to include weekdays, weekends, and holidays. 

Role Responsibilities

  1. Provide nursing services within scope of practice and per direction of medical providers
  2. Prepare client for provider visit and triage for level of care – verify client data and medical history, confirm purpose of visit, obtain necessary physical preliminary requirements such as blood draw, urine sample, height, weight, and vital signs
  3. Perform nursing/intake assessments: physical and mental health assessments, substance withdrawal screening, and psychiatric screening
  4. Assist with development of initial care plan/withdrawal management treatment plan/crisis stabilization plan
  5. Assist with e-scribing prescriptions and refills to pharmacies per provider orders
  6. Conduct MAR reviews and medication counts, monitor house stock of medications and refill status for clients, and prepare/pass medications as needed to comply with DMH standards
  7. Evaluate medications for right medication, right dosage, right patient and communicate with medical providers for medication changes
  8. Provide education to clients regarding their illness and their medications
  9. Assist the Program Director and registered nurses in ensuring medication management standards are met
  10. Provide crisis intervention services to clients in an emergent situation
  11. Attend staff meetings with clinical staff and medical providers
  12. Establish and maintain a professional and positive relationship with medical providers and community stakeholders
  13. Consult with team members as requested regarding medications, crisis, and other necessary issues as they arise
  14. Conduct in-service training for MTBH employees on health or medication-related topics
  15. Serve as a liaison for MTBH clients to their physician
  16. Complete appropriate clinical data in a timely manner, such as documentation on medical sheets and record of vital signs

Adherence to the MTBH Ethical Code of Conduct and all policies is required.

 Qualifications

  • Current Missouri license (LPN)
  • Two years behavioral health experience preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of drug and alcohol and mental health disorders
