Role Responsibilities

  • Provide individual, family, and group therapy to individuals struggling with both co-occurring and substance use conditions
  • Utilize evidence and consensus-based models for the treatment of substance use disorders, mental health conditions and trauma
  • Use motivational interviewing and stages of change to determine level of engagement in difficult to reach consumers
  • Maintain a schedule for sessions and engages with consumers at frequency indicated by their current level of care
  • Generalization and stabilization of change through insight, structure and enhanced skills to promote healthy family interaction independent of formal helping system
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team planning and diagnostic disposition conferences to determine consumers’ individual needs, eligibility and appropriateness of services
  • Complete diagnostic assessments and subsequent reports, progress notes, treatment plans and other related documentation
  • Enhancement of current or development of new programming in cooperation with Clinical Director and Program Directors in response to consumer and community needs
  • Assist in representing the agency in cooperation with the staff in community functions focused on substance abuse and mental health issues and activities designed to market services
  • Conduct or aid in the preparation and presentation of professional development activities/materials for staff

Adherence to the MTBH Ethical Code of Conduct and all policies is required.

 

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Counseling, Social Work or Psychology
  • Licensed in the state of Missouri or licensed-eligible
  • Knowledge of alcohol and drug addictions or Certification as an Alcohol and Drug Counselor
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience preferred
